Young People Friendly Neighbourhoods (YPFN)

The YPFN project is a two year project delivered across Groundwork Trusts in over 13 localities across the UK. He project aims to support young people and communities to work together, to enable young people to be pro-actively involved in steering sustainable services for young people within their area, and to work towards the development of Youth Mutuals.

Areas of work: Killisick, Bilborough and Aspley

Age group: 8 – 19 years old

Type of work: Targeted and project based youth work

Project aims:

  • To reduce anti-social behaviour and associated crime
  • To establish and promote youth mutuals
  • To work with children and young people most effected by living in deprived areas
  • To improve relationships between young people and their neighbourhoods
  • To work with local partners to establish wraparound support solutions for young people
  • To support young people to remain in education and training
  • To reduce numbers of NEET young people

The YPFN project works with a number of groups all with different individual aims:

  • The Transition Group
  • The Open Doors Group
  • The Birchover Group
  • The Bilborough Youth Network
  • The Killisick ‘Hub’ Development,
  • Work with both KIT and AKRA groups within Killisick
