Killisick Youth Group

Background: The Killisick Youth Group was founded local people started to experience increasing levels of nuisance and Antisocial Behaviour perpetrated by young people. It was quickly identified that there was a need for focussed Youth Provision within the Killisick area, and we were fortunate in drawing down funding for this three year project. The group focuses on personal development and community involvement with the young people involved, and has been well received by young people and adult community members alike.

Project aims:

  • To reduce anti-social behaviour
  • To engage young people in community beneficial activities
  • To encourage young people to re-engage with mainstream education
  • To encourage positive relationships between young people and other community members
  • To empower young people within the community

Typical Group Activities Have Included: Issues based personal development workshops, team building, organising and contributing to community fairs and events, residential/away days, work with local residents groups, health improvement initiatives, drugs and alcohol awareness, safe sex awareness, area improvement and community cohesion activities (including work with Gedling BC to achieve park improvements)
